“I have often said that I’m interested in revealing the symptoms of social and political situations rather than commenting on them. I’m deeply interested in current events, geopolitics, and social movements. I feel a disconnect between the realities we live or perceive, a sense of disconnection among my contemporaries—or perhaps it’s the end of an illusion of connection? It seems to me that the society around me is progressing, yet these advances are compartmentalized, not shared, making it increasingly difficult to find common ground, genuine dialogues. Despite the inability to agree on certain definitions or a shared vocabulary, voices continue to speak out constantly, unabashedly, and deafeningly. Sometimes, it feels as though everything is becoming a battle, even as everything remains fragile. Often, all I sense is confusion. I see parallels between this broad, social situation and intimate, personal ones. […] This work explores the consequences of such confusion and closure, along with the sensations linked to them. Time stretches or contracts; movement flirts with extremes of rhythm—extreme slowness or speed—that sometimes pass through the body simultaneously. This creates significant physical complexity and palpable tension […] offering audiences the opportunity to connect with the vulnerability of bodies caught in an illusion of control.”
