bang bang

Created in 2017, the solo bang bang is being brought back in the form of a duo.

Originally created in 2017, bang bang first established itself on the contemporary scene as a solo work, receiving the Award for Best Choreographic Work from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, as well as the Performer’s Award at the Prix de la Danse de Montréal. In 2024, the desire to transmit this score to a young performer caused the work to mutate: it has become a version for two dancers, a journey that is now collective.

bang bang is an ordeal. Somewhere between a game of hopscotch and athletic prowess, two performers engage in a series of jumps and rhythmic patterns, demanding exceptional concentration and physical commitment. Under this millimetric precision, the mechanics gradually reveal combativeness, resistance, and the vulnerabilities of the “human-performer.” Here, the rigor of execution meets the sweat.

This version for two adds the idea of moving through the ordeal together, combining the strengths and weaknesses of each. Over the course of 50 minutes, in this shared effort, the performers’ identities dissolve. To keep jumping becomes at once absurd, poetic, and political.
