2024 edition: Série B is back in force for its 4th edition!

From 11 to 16 November 2024, DLD is bringing you an ambitious programme. Presented in conjunction with the CINARS Biennial, Série B is a meeting place for professionals and the local public, offering opportunities for encounters and discoveries.

This year, Série B is pleased to present 9 works by artists from the worlds of dance, theatre and music. Artists who invite us to connect with and celebrate our vulnerability. Far from being a weakness, our vulnerability is a privileged path to connection, making it a catalyst for change. Alongside DLD’s associate artists, the 2024 edition of Série B welcomes two international projects and two projects by emerging Montreal artists.

Maison de la culture Janine-Sutto
11 November | 7.30pm

Unconventional male quartet that tackles with great candor the disarray of the North American cis man, his ridicule, his stupidity, his vanity, his excessive violence, but also his vulnerability, his confusion and his aspiration to become better. Irresistible spiral of bodies and music, All Hell is Breaking Loose, Honey is a generous, rallying piece that uncompromisingly embraces our ill-beings.

12 November | 8.00pm

Maison de la culture du Plateau Mont-Royal
13 November | 7.30pm

Four bodies given over to the dance, reveal what has taken refuge behind the strange, opaque skin. Amour, acide et noix speaks of solitude, but also of the infinite tenderness of touch, amid the harshness of life. Daniel Léveillé presents nudity as the only true alternative to the reading of the body, frank and free of false modesty.

La Chapelle, Scènes Contemporaines
12 + 13 + 15 November | 8.00pm
16 November | 3.30pm

A body wanders, twirls, tries to anchor itself to an empty space… An organic piece, The Wind Rises unfolds to the rhythm of repetitive patterns, gradually bringing momentum to life under the crumbling weight of inertia. How does one regain one’s sense of direction in a chaotic context?

12 November | 9.30pm
13 November | 6.00pm

GEO is a solo by Tereza Ondrová that relates her 21 year history of creating and performing at PONEC theatre in Prague to the geological history of the surrounding landscape and ground below. GEO brings into focus the overlapping archives of her own body, her repertoire, the history of the theatre and the land it stands on.

13 November | 2.00 pm
****As part of the official programming of the CINARS Biennial***

Civilization and Its Discontents presents four walkers who disembark in a theatre without a care for decorum. Alternatively reserved or expansive, clumsy or careless, the companions explore the space, jostling it and forgetting themselves in the rhythm of small ordinary accidents. Both philosophical and driven, their impulses will leave nothing untouched.

Écomusée du fier monde
14 November | 4.00pm

bang bang is a hardship. Involving a repetition of jumps and athletic patterns counted in 11, it demands exceptional concentration and physical commitment from the performers. A hardship that gradually drips with combativeness and resistance, revealing the human-performer’s flaws. As a pair, the ordeal becomes a sharing of strengths and weaknesses, where continuing to jump becomes at once absurd, poetic and political.

Patro Villeray
14 November | 6.00pm
16 November | 12.30pm (previously 12.15pm)

The curtain rises, like a loud cry that tears through the night on rue St-Dominique. Two acrobats in tights arrive on stage, with masks on their faces, and pirouettes and confetti in their arsenal! Are you ready to discover the highs and lows of acting? Will they be able to hold onto the audience’s good will..?

14 novembre | 20h00
15 novembre | 12h45

Two women eat sunflower seeds in a park, a doorway or a courtyard. The cante (singing) and baile (dancing) suddenly burst forth, transforming the mundane scene into a magic intimate spectacle. Together, they embark on an intimate take of this palo’s stark rawness, with irreverence and humour.

Patro Villeray
16 novembre | 14h00

In a science-fiction world called ALTERMUNDI, an imaginary racetrack remains. As an anti-tribute to automobile culture, Corps. Route Ride. unfolds, step by step, the dehumanisation created by industrial progress. Gradually, the bodies undergo various physical transformations, navigating a continuum between the natural and the artificial.
